Alexander Pushkin The fragment of a poem „Ruslan and Ludmila».

At the seashore is an oak.

The golden chain entwines it all,

And learning cat around that oak

The day and night keeps on a walk:

When goes to right-a song he sings,

While turning left-a tale he bringes.

There’s so much wonder! Fauns in woods,

And mermaids’re sitting on the fronds.

There, on paths where no one’s been,

Are feetsteps of the unknown creeps were seen.

There stands a hut on chicken’s feet

Without a window or door in it.

The fields and forests are full of wonder,

There at the dawn are waves and thunder

Near the sandy seashore.

Thirty knights with their Uncle of the Sea

Get out the water, full of glee.

There a Prince, while passing by,

A king doth capture in the sky.

Over the sea and over fields, inside the clouds

A wizard holds a hero-knight in sight of crowds.

A princess in a tower stays alone,

And loyal wolf her missions serves.

There’s granny Yaga in the vat

That all along it goes and steps.

King Kashey pines over gold abundance–

There Russian spirit – Russian fragrance!

And I was there, and jam I drank,

And near the seashore saw an oak,

The cat was sitting under oak of old

For me this fairy-tales he told.
